Our Small Cool homeowners may be living in little spaces, but they’ve never shied away from big colors. As we gear up for Small Cool 2013, here are 10 of our very favorite colorful small spaces.
Researched by Spacio Furniture & Interiors Team
The 65 square meter space is well-lit with a simple geometry. The commission consisted in fitting-out a working area including five identical desks, a common meeting room and shared facilities.
The refurbishment project had to reflect the dynamic and innovative spirit of the agency in a serene and contemporary space. It also had to include a maximum of shelving for storage, the creation of exhibition walls for the display of photography shows. The schedule for the building works was very tight. h2o architects created for these offices a sort of indoor landscape thanks to a play with blocks. These volumes of varied form and size constitute the living space for each person working there. Their combination help compose the furniture, the desks, the separation and exhibition walls, the coffers etc.
Spacio Team shares a few ideas for decorating spaces with pops of colors. As you would see, the furnishings are all white and pale wood is used, but it is interesting that how the all white floors and walls are filled by hanging colorful art, throwing bright rugs and settling it more with a few well placed pillows. The result is an airy, cheerful space.
It takes guts to keep such a big room so spare, not to mention placing a dining table on a white shag rug. The room shown above, gets it right, from the copper pendant to the color saturated abstract art.
Furnished with a locker console, contemporary white sofas, a vintage coffee table, and lime green rug, it looks easy to replicate, and affordable.
Spacio Collection of furniture & home décor products can be counted on to showcase perfectly put together rooms complete with faux animal hides, candles, and punches of bright color.
This loft space has an eclectic mix of mid-century & contemporary. The main elements are black, white, and wood. It’s the green pillow and hot pink flowers that add color. And the brass wall sculpture adds shine.
This porch is perfection, with comfy white seating, a contemporary wood table, pillows, and a perfect pink candelabra.
An of-the-moment over-dyed rug (so oceany!) sets a saturated stage for two vintage leather armchairs in this living room source. The whimsical artwork takes the almost serious space down a notch.
This is a bedroom in a concept guest house in Ghent, Belgium, above the gallery SofieLachaert. It allows customers to experience Droog’s products in a fully equipped apartment. It’s called Droog for Rent.
Under the eaves proves to be a great space for a study. Books provide color, along with the backs of the bookshelves above the writing space, the file cabinet, and stool.
The floor is painted white, but look closely, the wood is showing through. Lovely. Striped pillows and throw provide the white sofa with color, and a daring cobalt blue upholstered vintage armchair makes things homey. The artwork, mostly leaning against the walls, is fabulous too.
The ubiquitous black and white Irug in offset stripes is a sure bet on a white floor. The plain pale gray sofa is enlivened by plush toys and pillows, and a ledge filled with art above may just be for kids’ creations.
Mid-century furniture is set off in a minimalist setting that could be the model for a contemporary dollhouse for Barbie, given the bubblegum pink spiral staircase.
